Post-Holiday Refresh: Get Your Home Decor Back on Track.

For most families around the world,  the holiday season has come to an end, and it’s time to tackle the aftermath of the holiday decorations, the cooking, the entertaining etc. For most families, it’s been a whirlwind of activity, and your home may be feeling the heat.

But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! In this post, we’ll share some tips and tricks for cleaning up and restoring your home decor after the holiday season.

Step 1: Take Down the Decorations

We love our holiday decorations but they have to go. This is the first step and it includes the tree, the lights, the garlands, and all the other festive touches you added to your home.

– Start by carefully packing away any fragile or breakable items, such as ornaments and glass decorations.
– Next, remove any lights or garlands from your walls, windows, and doors.
– Finally, take down the tree and pack away any remaining decorations carefully in their designated boxes.

Step 2: Deep Clean Your Home

Once the decorations are down, it’s time to give your home a deep clean. This includes:

– Dusting and vacuuming all surfaces, including furniture, floors, and blinds.
– Cleaning any surfaces that may have seen more usage during the holiday season, such as the refrigerator, and the oven,
– Organizing any clutter or mess that may have accumulated during the holidays.

Step 3: Restore Your Home Decor

Now that your home is clean, it’s time to restore your home decor to its pre-holiday state. This includes:

– Replacing seasonal decorations with your regular decor.
– Rearranging your furniture to its original configuration if you have had to move things around to create space.
– Adding any fresh flowers or plants to brighten up your space.

Tips and Tricks

– To make post-holiday cleanup easier, try to clean as you go throughout the holiday season.
– Consider enlisting the help of family members or friends to make the task more manageable.
– Sprinkle baking soda on carpeted surfaces before vacuuming to neutralize odors
– Create a specific space or storage space for storing all your festive decorations. This will make it easier when it’s time to bring them out again.
– Schedule your cleanup closer to your garbage collection day so that you don’t have to keep the clutter for another week.
– Take a break. You don’t have to do it all in one day. Post-holiday cleanup process can be physically and emotionally exhausting!

By following these steps and tips, you’ll be able to quickly and easily clean up and restore your home decor after the holiday season.

Full disclosure, my holiday decorations are staying up a tad bit more because I put them up late. I need a bit more time to enjoy it 🙂

Happy cleaning!
